Maj Wechselmann’s hard-hitting The Atom Serving Humanity is a showdown with the pro-nuclear ideas that have recently gained ground in the wake of the climate crisis.

In 17 chapters, Wechselmann (Moa Martinson – Landsmodern, GFF 2019) narrates about the atom bomb and nuclear power, but also about the history of resistance. From the victims of the Hiroshima bomb, on to the Swedish atomic bomb project, the development of the neutron bomb, test detonations in places from northern Sweden to Bikini Atoll, Chernobyl and Fukushima, up until the present day with the end of the INF Treaty. Wechselmann is always full of commitment and pathos in their film narration and gives us a terrifying exposé of the threat that concerns us all.
