Space exploration, swarming bees and exploding volcanos in a beautiful and important study in mankind’s preference for finding a new planet rather than save its current one.

The volcanic island of Hawaii is at the very centre of the climate crisis and the conflicting interests of our days. Here we meet a mother who, along with her her daughter, saves endangered bees from industrial plantations, a father defending the holy mountain of his ancestors from a NASA project and astronauts living in a simulated Mars colony. In a hypnotically beautiful way, we are gently treated to a tale of tradition and technology facing science and industrialism. Swarm Season trains a timely gaze on mankind’s blindness to own own impact on nature and the fact that would rather move to Mars than save our own home.
