A family’s violent breakdown becomes hilarious slapstick in this Czech drama-comedy about a custody fight that gets out of hand.

The ambulance driver Jaroslav is fighting to see his three kids. But his wife holds them hostage. She wants to get at her mother-in-law Dorota’s apartment. The mother-in-law has one condition: that Jaroslav’s father, her ex-husband, will do the cooking for the whole family – which will never happen because he hates her. Poor Jaroslav does his best to find a solution to the hopeless situation. Mira Fornay has made a feminist update of a classic drama in which singing choirs suddenly show up and change the course of events.
