The Region Västra Götaland's Film Literacy Week 2026 has the theme “For Sweden With The Times?” It opens with an in-depth discussion based on the films in Startsladden, Sweden’s most significant short film competition. What do these stories, moving from the plains of Skåne, via Blomstermåla in Småland, towards Gothenburg, through the rural landscapes of Värmland and further north to Stockholm, tell us about Sweden in 2026? What perspectives on identity and the present moment emerge in the filmmakers’ portrayals?
