Glesbygd - Marit Kapla och Po Tidholm

The conflict between city and countryside is increasing and the differences between urban and rural Swedes are growing. What is the cause of this and what can you do to change this development? Author and journalist Po Tidholm has often returned to rural areas in his work and holds lectures on sparsely populated areas, global economy and urban development. Here, he meets the author and journalist Marit Kapla, who was awarded in 2019 with the August Prize in literature for her debut book Osebol, for which she interviewed her entire home village. This evening’s film is the Icelandic drama comedy The County.

Host: Tobias Åkesson, Göteborg Film Festival. In collaboration with the Swedish Church.

The conversation will be held in Swedish.

Filmisk salong (Film salon): The festival’s programming committee invites you to a new concept: four evenings with film and immersive dialogues about art, life and society at one of the city’s most charming cinemas, Aftonstjärnan.

Each evening has its own theme and contains film screenings; intermission with refreshments, snacks and mingling; and an on-stage dialogue where high-profile guests discuss the evening’s subject. It will be thought-provoking, festive and inspiring, and offer new insights and perspectives. Everything will be live-streamed to a number of theaters out in Region Västragötaland, in collaboration with the Culture Academy (Kulturakademin). Tickets to Filmisk salong are bought using the relevant film’s screening number.
