When Reality Winner is recruited by the US Air Force due to her extraordinary language skills – fluent in Arabic since childhood – she skips university. But instead of heading to Afghanistan, she ends up in Maryland for surveillance, tasked with identifying terrorists for drone strikes, and later at the NSA handling classified documents. Disillusioned, she leaks secret intel about the government’s lies regarding Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. Emilia Jones is phenomenal as the awkward but warm-hearted Reality, who is ruthlessly punished by the Trump administration. Zack Galifianakis delivers a heartfelt performance as her idealistic, now cynically worn-down father.
