Who by Fire
Buy ticketsMen of culture sqaubble and youth take a step toward adulthood as festival favorite Lesage delivers a big cinema drama of life and death in the wilderness of French Canada.
Former screenwriter Albert travels with his teenage children and their friend – a young cinephile – to visit his former comrade, the great director Blake, at his luxurious log cabin. Tensions arise right at the dinner table – with more prominent guests – as cordiality gives way to an awkward duel of insults between the two men. The teenagers are forced to navigate their own coming-of-age dramas while dealing with the total dysfunctionality of the adults around them. Surrounding them is the wild nature, which demands its toll if challenged – and it is indeed challenged! But Lesage (Demons, Copenhague – A Love Story, GFF 2016, 2017) also gives us a sick dog named Ingmar (!) and an epic dance scene set to B-52’s.
