When Spring Came to Bucha
Buy ticketsHeart-rending but empowering portrayal of the arrival to Bucha right after the city has been freed from the Russian forces in springtime April.
As Putin’s army is forced to retire after a month of bombing and invasion of a number of cities in the Kyiv region, they leave total destruction behind. Filmmakers Mila Teshaieva and Marcus Lenz drive from Berlin to film how the locals in Bucha come out of the bomb shelters to reclaim their city. Over a few weeks we follow a number of people and their work to creater order in the chaos, while the initial shock and grief switches to decisiveness and resistance, as the spring flowers begin to bloom. When Spring Came to Bucha is a sensitively balanced film about humanity and hope and how life goes on. At the same time, the war in Ukraine has soon raged for an entire year.
