Viet and Nam
Buy ticketsTwo young miners meet in the coal pit 1,000 meters underground in this beautifully dark drama about forbidden gay love and the dream of a brighter future.
In the coal dust, miners Viet and Nam find a sanctuary for their love, where the darkness is displaced and where the dream of a brighter future flourishes. It's 2001 and being gay is unacceptable. Nam's father disappeared during the war and he now helps his mother find his father's remains, with the help of a spiritualist. Viet tries to convince Nam, who wants to leave the chattered country behind, to stay. By working with the past and the future in this dark film with fantastic photography, the painful history of Vietnam is depicted; the story of a country living with war trauma for generations. The film is banned in the home country.
