When the aging widower Kristófer begins to show signs of early dementia, he decides to revisit an unfinished chapter of his life. As a young, idealistic student in London, he dropped out of his studies to work as a dishwasher at a Japanese restaurant. There, he met Miko, the owner’s daughter and a survivor of Hiroshima, and the two soon fell deeply in love. However, their relationship came to an abrupt and unexpected end. Icelandic master director Baltasar Kormákur (The Deep, GFF 2013) has crafted a sensitive and moving drama where a muted, pandemic-affected present intertwines with a warm and vibrant 1960s backdrop, set to the sounds of Lennon.
