The Mission
Buy ticketsMormons on a mission, who in their zeal to get others to discover the Word of God, find themselves in a religious coming-of-age story from one of the world’s most hard-to-convert nations.
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also called the Mormon Church, it is a common rite of passage to go on a proselytizing mission to spread the Word of God throughout the world. For a group of 19-year-old Americans, this entails the first trip away from home leading to Finland. Equipped with the Book of Mormon and an untiring will to do good, they set off to convert one of the world’s most introverted and skeptical peoples. An emotional journey beginning with unblushing naïveté and ending with invaluable lessons about life and oneself. The Mission tactfully gets in under the skin of the youths at a delicate time when they are far from their safe bubble. And in the barren landscape in the north, they grow both as people and bearers of the spiritual message.
