An irresistibly defiant and suspenseful modern tale pulsing with activism, resistance, boundless creativity, and a powerful spirit of collectivism
With a blend of fury and artistic force, the filmmakers – The Agbajowo Collective – confront the forced evictions threatening Lagos’s most vulnerable inhabitants. Jawu, a single mother to a beloved young boy, believes her luck has turned when she stumbles upon a large sum of money. But she soon becomes a target for ruthless gangsters – both those who flaunt their true nature and those hiding behind façades of respectability and ambition. Using her wits at first, and later armed with growing insight, solidarity, and magic, Jawu transforms from protecting her small family to becoming a unifying force for the entire community.
