A young fisherman fakes his death to start a new life in Vietnam with the help of insurance money in heartbreaking South Korean drama. The young fisherman, Yong-su, is desperate. They times are hard and racism is affecting his Vietnamese wife. The solution becomes an insurance scam, and his gruff captain reluctantly reports him as lost overboard. There is an uproar in the small village, his mother refuses to accept what has happened, and soon the existence of the life insurance policy is revealed. Park Ri-woong follows up his strong debut The Girl on a Bulldozer with a uncompromising version – that goes straight to the heart – of the classic story of poor losers and doomed outsiders. The actors perform at the highest level in this drama, which won both the audience and jury awards at the Busan Film Festival.
