The Freshly Cut Grass
Buy ticketsIn Buenos Aires infidelity takes center stage in Martin Scorsese-produced subtle Tribeca winner.
Many long for the scent of freshly cut green grass on the other side of the fence – if only a change happens, everything will be better. Argentine director Celina Murga skillfully and insightfully examines infidelity, gender roles, and social media in two mirror-image stories. In one, Oscar-nominated Marina de Tavira (Roma) plays a family woman and biology teacher who begins a sexual relationship with a nerdy hunk student. In the other, Joaquín Furriel portrays a family man and biology professor at the same university, entangled in a similar affair with a free-spirited punk girl. Both have children and appear to live in loving families. But beneath the surface, frustration simmers.
