The adult world acts as an ominous backdrop to an upbringing hemmed in by gunpowder, kickflips, and stolen cigarettes when Cecilia Torquato de Oliveira portrays a skater gang in Göteborg.

A few young adults’ dangerous play with explosives goes wrong, throwing us back in time to a critical year in their lives. Skate ramps and schoolyards act as living rooms for these friends while constant fights, mental illness, poverty, and absent parents await them at home. Through their love and community, division and reunion, we journey through Göteborg’s socio-economic heterogeneity, from concrete to residential suburbs and beach plots as these youths try to navigate their teenage years, while the adult world seems resigned and self-absorbed.
