Sister, What Grows Where the Land is Sick?
Buy ticketsWhimsical and wild portrayal of a free-thinking big sister’s mental and climate-related breakdown from the perspective of an admiring little sister.
In a beautiful village in Northern Norway, the sisters Vera and Eira live with their parents in a house. Wide-eyed – and by eavesdropping on Vera’s diary – a fascinated but increasingly concerned Eira studies her rebelliously passionate sister’s incredible but frightening development, creations, and existential imaginings. We follow the two sisters – wonderfully played by Ruby Dagnall and Keira LaHart – through light and darkness, during their wanderings among mountains, lichens, and fjords. Young Franciska Eliassen has forged a refreshingly original, both physically and poetically powerful film artwork. It is a message from a generation that feels bad about the destructive way we live and that demands we create a more beautiful world together in harmony with nature.
