Sidonie in Japan
Buy ticketsAn enchanting romance featuring the brilliant Isabelle Huppert as a writer who travels to Japan with her late husband's ghost and encounters a culture and a man who rekindle her zest for life.
Sidonie Perceval (Huppert), an established French writer, is grieving her beloved late husband. She can't write anymore but surprises herself by accepting an invitation to travel to Japan for the relaunch of her first novel. Her local publisher, Kenzo (Tsuyoshi Ihara), meets her, and together with this laconic man, they embark on a small tour through the blooming Japanese landscape of spring. Her husband's ghost (August Diehl) is also on the journey, and the question is whether Sidonie will continue to cling to him or dare to let go. This is a quiet, elegant, and charmingly playful little cinematic gem. Huppert is fantastic, and so are her outfits.
