Buy ticketsA bold, playful, and charming hybrid musical by Lola Arias, where queer inmates in a women’s prison in Buenos Aires reimagine reality and their own lives.
Renowned Argentine artist and filmmaker Lola Arias (Theatre of War GFF 2019) – celebrated for her genre-defying work that blurs the lines between fiction and reality, and also for her public spat with Ruben Östlund over his use of her name for the fictional artist in The Square – returns with a captivating and thought-provoking film. Set against pastel-colored backdrops, a magnetic ensemble of amateur actors reenacts pivotal moments from their lives behind bars. The film explores the deep bonds and relationships formed among the inmates, alongside their hopes and dreams of a different life. The acting is noticeably unpolished, but the scenes are no less moving because of it – if anything, quite the opposite.
