For eight decades, Jan Troell has explored and interpreted the world through his camera. He has given us films such as Here Is Your Life, Who Saw Him Die?, The Emigrants, Land of Dreams, and Everlasting Moments, but he has also documented his surroundings, nature, and the people around him. In recent years, he has reflected on his artistry, his life, and his profound love for the camera and film. The result is Once Upon a Time There Was a Now, a deeply personal retrospective on an extraordinary career and a rich life – filled with those details, light phenomena, and visual compositions we have come to recognize and admire.The film is an ongoing life project. This version was completed in January 2025.
