A psychologically intense drama in which Mai Zetterling, with visual precision, explores the unyielding grip of childhood trauma and inherited legacy.

Jan, raised in a decadent upper-class environment under the strong influence of his neurotic mother, returns to his childhood castle with his fiancée. Here, memories from his past are stirred, and the film depicts his inner journey through parallel narratives, presenting Jan both as a 12-year-old and as a 35-year-old. Night Games, based on Zetterling’s own screenplay later published as a novel, caused a sensation at the Venice Film Festival and cemented Zetterling’s status as an internationally acclaimed auteur.
