Lost Chapters
Buy ticketsA touching and inquisitive story about a father and daughter brought together by literature—and the search for it—as they face changes we all must confront at some point.
After several years abroad, Ena returns to Venezuela, only to find things at home have changed. Her grandmother struggles with memory loss and can no longer care for herself. Meanwhile, Ena’s father, Ignacio, has become obsessed with collecting books to preserve the country’s literary heritage, a mission that soon draws Ena in as well. Somewhere along the way, their shared passion for literature becomes a way for father and daughter to cope with what they are on the brink of losing. Debut filmmaker Lorena Alvarado began the project as a documentary about her father and his bookstore but allowed it to evolve into a fictional, carefully crafted story about life’s ebb and flow—and the acceptance that some chapters inevitably fade with time.
