Holy Electricity
Buy ticketsAn absurd fable in which two drifters transform rusty crosses into neon-adorned creations in a city filled with eccentric dreams and dreamers.
When Gonga and his cousin Bart stumble upon a pile of worn-out crosses at a junkyard, a business idea is born: to adorn them with neon and sell them door-to-door. What begins as a small-scale crusade turns into a bizarre journey through the outskirts of Tbilisi, where they encounter skeptics, the curious, and the devout. In true Kusturica fashion, director Tato Kotetishvili deftly balances humor and melancholy, capturing the soul of the city and the peculiar lives of its inhabitants with striking visual precision. Holy Electricity is an original portrait of a city—equal parts a tribute to Georgia and a satirical reflection on humanity's yearning for something greater, even if it comes in the form of a glowing cross.
