Buy ticketsSpain’s Sun Coast is the setting for a sweat-drenching and brash, provocative and brutally violent comedy about a collection of pointed existences in search of redemption and riches.
A drugged-out former beauty queen, Marjaleena, her grown-up son, and their heavily alcoholized companion run a seedy and run-down bar on Spain’s Sun Coast. Their finances are screwed and when Marjaleena’s hated and feared ex-husband, Worm, is released from prison, they are also thrown out onto the street. At the same time, they discover that the bar served as a hiding place for Worm’s stolen goods, but when they claim the fortune, they open the door to a nasty and merciless turn of events that they have neither the ability to stop nor oversee. The grotesque reaches new heights in Valkeapää’s (They Have Escaped, GFF 2015; Dogs Don’t Wear Pants, GFF 2020) new film set among Finnish expats in Spain.
