Stylish and playful teenage rebellion in a dystopian Tokyo, where a group of friends obsessed with old-school electro turn their backs on an authoritarian surveillance society.

Following his elegant concert film Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus (GFF 2024), Neo Sora – son of the legendary composer – makes his narrative feature debut with a sleek, smart, and charming tale of rebellious Japanese youth in the near future. Here, today’s global anxieties about totalitarianism, natural disasters, and xenophobia have intensified, manifesting in extreme forms – especially at school. But Kou, Yuta, and their friends refuse to conform, taking on their authoritarian principal and his oppressive surveillance system. Their resistance is loud – quite literally – as they blast vintage electro at full volume. Packed with striking cinematic details and brimming with youthful energy, Sora’s debut elegantly dances between darkness and hope, crafting a thrilling and vibrant vision of defiance across time and space.
