A young nursing student cares for an elderly woman with a dark and vivid imagination in breakout horror talent Aislinn Clarke’s raw, poetic paranoia thriller, steeped in fairies, religious iconography, taxidermy, and inherited trauma.

Following her mother’s suicide, Shoo travels to a remote village deep in the Irish countryside to care for Peig, a dying, agoraphobic old woman trapped by her fear of both her neighbors and a fairy-like entity known as Na Sídhe. As Peig’s paranoia intensifies, Shoo begins to realize that the fantasies might not be fantasies at all.

Aislinn Clarke delves into Ireland’s shadowy recent history, distilling centuries of systemic abuse against women into a relentless and ambiguous horror tale—equal parts folie à deux and paranormal chamber drama.
