Desert of Namibia
Buy ticketsFunny and sad for Generation Z about an angry 21-year-old at a beauty salon, in the Japanese version of Frances Ha and The Worst Person in the World.
Kana works at a beauty clinic that removes unwanted body hair here and there. She's angry at her job, at everything, but especially at her boyfriend – with whom she constantly argues – and she freaks out when he tells her about a business trip where his boss forced him to visit a prostitute. She herself had an abortion without involving him. In an attempt to understand and live with her chaos, she sees a psychiatrist, hoping to perhaps get a diagnosis. Yôko Yamanaka delivers an empathetic, funny, and liberating film about someone who dares to act in the authoritarian Japanese society.
