Jonas Lundqvist’s status as an icon on the Swedish music scene has never been higher. His latest album, Sorgetornets spejare, has received critical acclaim, and he continues to play to sold-out crowds. But life behind the scenes has been far less glamorous. He has divorced the mother of his daughter, battled addiction, lost his father, and watched his own mother succumb to Alzheimer’s. At the same time, he has a daughter he longs to stay close to, holding her hand as they take new steps in life. By My Dad feels like a companion piece to Lundqvist’s latest album, where he vulnerably confronts the loneliness that follows the loss of a parent’s generation and the collapse of the nuclear family.

The screening at Stora Teatern on January 29 begins with a live performance by Jonas Lundqvist on stage.
