HOTEL DRAKEN - DRAMA HALL
MODERATOR: Ann Ighe
Entrance: Festival Pass or accreditation badge
* The day is a collaboration with Climate Live, Fridays for Future, Greenpeace and Göteborg & Co.
In Focus: Disobedience we explore the power of disobedience and civil resistance. During the day we twist and turn the perspectives from the film program in conversations with exciting people who all have a relationship with disobedience.
10.00-11.00 Was it worth it?
Sometimes disobedience is required to protect what is important – and to shape a better future. Meet a panel of people who have shown civil courage and taken action. What did they achieve and was it worth the consequences?
Participants:
Lars Gårdfeldt, priest and LGBTQ activist, who for a period refused to marry heterosexual couples; Per Herngren, author and trainer in conflict management and civil courage. Has participated in ploughshare actions around the world and has been imprisoned in the USA, Sweden and England, among others; Annika Spalde, author, lecturer, peace activist and deacon. Has worked with the network Ofog against Swedish exporters of weapons and is also committed to animal rights. Has been imprisoned for civil disobedience, among others in England; Peter Bratt, journalist and author. Together with Jan Guillou, he exposed the IB affair in the magazine Folket i Bild/Kulturfront in 1973. For this he was sentenced to twelve months in prison for espionage; Marie-Louise Bahati, from the student movement that has been demonstrating for Palestine since May through a tent camp outside Gothenburg University. In November, they were forced to evacuate the area when the Liberals applied for permission for a public gathering at the same location.

11.00-11.45 Mod undercover
Undercover: Exposing the Far Right is one of the films in Focus: Disobedience. In the film, the camera follows some of the researchers of the British network Hope not Hate as they infiltrate right-wing extremist circles. Meet director Havana Marking and protagonist Patrik Hermansson in a conversation about combating civil disobedience that has gone out of control, but also about doing so with a method that in itself transcends borders.
11.45-12.45: Lunch break
12.45-13.30 The festival artist has the floor
Britta Marakatt Labba has made this year's festival poster with Sami activists being stopped by crow-like police officers. Meet her in a conversation about the importance of disobedience and struggle with artist and activist Maxida Märak, film festival CEO Mirja Wester and Gustav Martner, Head of Creative, Greenpeace.
13.30-14.00: Once Upon a Time in a Forest
In the festival film Once Upon A Time in A Forest, director Virpi Suutari tells how young Finnish activists fight against callous commercial interests to preserve the Finnish old-growth forest they love. Meet Virpi Suutari in a conversation, together with Lydia Rysavy, Climate Live.
14.00-14.45: What does the law say?
In a world characterized by increasing polarization, authoritarian tendencies and the climate crisis, civil resistance has become a crucial factor in the global conversation. In this context, the line between protest and law-abiding resistance can become blurred, as acts of resistance often require a certain degree of disobedience. Who decides where the line is and has it changed over time?
Participants: Fredrik Dahlgren, experienced dialogue police in Gothenburg; Linus Gardell, a defense attorney passionate about human rights issues; Mattias Wahlström, senior lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, researching social movements, politically motivated violence and police handling of protests.
