The charismatic skateboard prodigy Ali Boulala’s rise and fall in the ’90s and ’00s portrayed in insightful and gripping archive documentary.
Boulala was only 16 years old when he was signed by Flip Skateboards and exchanged Stockholm for a truant life on a seemingly endless world tour. Skating became a full-time job and his days were filled by drilling in new tricks in front of continuously running video cameras, along with a gang of other young pros who loved Boulala for his charismatic and punky attitude. Together they also indulged in wild escapades and brash partying. Something that in time got out of control and eventually culminated in a tragic accident that would end a young person’s life and change Boulala’s life forever. A person’s inner scars will always outlast their physical injuries, as Boulala puts it.
