Cobweb
Buy ticketsSuperstar Song Kang-ho (Parasite, The Host) plays a pressured director refusing to bow to censorship laws in a meta-packed satire on film production.
South Korea in the early 1970s. General Park is the dictator, and all film production is state-controlled. As a film director wants to make last-minute changes to his film, chaos at the censorship office arises, and an inspector is sent to set. Stressed at the thought of not being able to complete his masterpiece, the director decides to kidnap the inspector. Kim Jee-woon has been making genre films since the late 90s, and in the chaotically entertaining Cobweb, he skillfully combines noir thriller with politics, portraying the resilience that stands up against culture-controlling dictatorships in an equally thrilling and enjoyable manner.
