Club Zero
Buy ticketsMia Wasikowska delivers as a sectarian teacher at an elite international boarding school in Jessica Hausner's true to form and satirical thriller about disordered eating and sustainability.
The cold Miss Novak has a prompt rise in popularity within the group who follow her innovative course in "Conscious Eating". The students soon start to compete for her favour and for who is able to eat the least and the slowest. When Miss Novak launches the next step, Club Zero – for the chosen ones, that will survive when rest of the world collapses – it is already too late for the control seeking students' self involved parents to react. Jessica Hausner (Lourdes GFF 2010, Amour Fou GFF 2015, Little Joe GFF 2020) examines wellness culture, conformity, overconsumption, school systems, and lacking parental responsibility, in a film at the same time disturbing and sharply comic. We also get to witness Sidse Babett Knudsen in a naggingly good role as the school's principal.
