The bond between a 6-year-old girl and her nanny is put to the test in a deeply moving drama that portrays France's colonial legacy entirely from a child's perspective.

6-year-old Cléo loves her nanny, Gloria, above all else. After losing her own mother to cancer, Gloria is the closest thing she will ever have to a mother figure. But when Gloria is forced to return to Cape Verde to take care of her own children, their time together suddenly comes to an end. When summer arrives, Cléo gets to visit, and the joy of reuniting with Gloria is overwhelming, while jealousy simmers beneath the surface towards her biological family. Rarely has a child actor impressed as much as Louise Mauroy-Panzani, who is the same age as her character, in her portrayal of 6-year-old Cléo. Together with Marie Amachoukeli's sensitive direction, they elevate "Ama Gloria" into a complex coming-of-age story framed by colonial heritage.
